Marinella, a native of the island of Sardinia (Italy), graduated from the Center for Ayurveda.
She has been trained in the Guru Kulam tradition; a tradition in which the presiding teacher takes responsibility for the academic, as well as the personal and spiritual training of the student.
The science of Ayurveda was not new to her. In fact, when she was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis (MS) in 2013 she decided to treat her disease holistically. That is when she met her guru and mentor Dr. Mela Gaskins-Butcher, Founder and Director of the Center for Ayurveda. Marinella will tell you that MS has changed her life. She is thankful that it has brought her to Ayurveda, the science of life and conscious living! She firmly believes that our body can heal itself if given the proper tools.
The founder of Jai Rhythm, Colin Brightfield started the studio by leading donation yoga classes in Marina Park in Pierpont every morning for over a year. Colin is a leader, artist and entrepreneur with a mission to build community based on conscious creative expression. He emphasizes creative pursuits to promote freedom, challenge what’s possible, and expand awareness. These pursuits take the form of yoga, art, music, festivals, events, and adventure retreats. Colin’s first experience with yoga was with his mother. She suggested he join her for yoga class while in high school, then after playing rugby in college, he turned to yoga to heal his body.
He quickly realized that there was something deeper happening in yoga class. As a student of philosophy, he began to delve into the theory beyond the physical practice of yoga. In 2008, he earned his initial teaching certification with Rolf Gates, and has enjoyed studying and teaching yoga ever since. Colin leads classes that are dynamic and soulful, combining his passion for yogic wisdom and flowing movement to create experiences that inspire, energize and awaken. Colin celebrates his students for who they are while challenging them to rise to their potential and dream even bigger.
Brook Hopper grew up in Michigan and started her journey west after graduating from college. Now residing in Ventura, California, she works as the Global Marketing Manager for Liv Cycling, the only comprehensive cycling brand in the world dedicated solely to women. Her passion for yoga was discovered later in life, and began with a Bikram yoga practice, followed by Vinyasa. It was through the Ventura yoga community that she met Krystal Pearson, who introduced her to ACROVINYASA yoga, a partner practice that brings asanas from the earth to the air. Both Brook and Krystal were certified in this practice in Bali by Claudine and Honza LaFond. As a former competitive gymnast, the pairing of a Vinyasa practice with acrobatic elements was a challenging and appealing combination. Their partnership has evolved over the years, and the acro-twins are excited to teach you how to fly!
Brook is a proud mom of a 6-year-old daughter, an 11-year-old dog, and 1-year-old bearded dragon. When not practicing yoga, you can find her traveling the world riding bikes, riding her motorcycle with her husband, or wing-suiting out of ‘perfectly good’ airplanes. Her favorite yoga posture is Eka Pada Rajakapotasana (resting pigeon.) She loves Thailand and is excited to share this experience with you.
